Circus Minimus presents Cyrano de Bergerac
This appears to be a photo of an actual performance of Cyrano de Bergerac in one of the most elaborate of The Craw and Loupe Brothers Combined Shows' Circus Minimus Cabinet Theatres. I believe we are seeing Beetle Booth in the role of Cyrano, the greatest swordsman in all of France and Sylla "The Fleaish Nightingale" Hooke as Roxanne, the object of his unrequited love.
The craftmanship of the Cabinet Theatres was exquisite. Some of the details were stunning trompe l'oeil paintings in miniature and some were intricately carved and gilded Lilliputian architecture. The cabinets themselves were masterpieces and stood on long claw and ball legs placing the action at eye level. The tiny doors were were mounted with magnifying lenses or they could be opened to be viewed by larger crowds. It was these cabinets that were used for command performances before the crowned heads of Europe and the Orient.
